Restoring Sawgrass Village

Sawgrass Village

The Ben Carter team including ELM began re-envisioning this project in the late fall of 2010.  The team began introducing the vision to the community in February of 2011 and has been working tirelessly since to garner Phase I approvals, which were awarded on September 20, 2011.  Previously unsuccessful efforts at repositioning the property by a different ownership team was attempted beginning in 2008 and was met with community resistance based upon a very aggressive development strategy resulting in high density mixed use that depended on a dense multi-family component.

Goal of the Project

The goal of the project is to refurbish the dated Sawgrass Village and re-establish its prominence in the Ponte Vedra Beach community.  Sawgrass Village was once a great destination in the resort area, and the project will bring back the vibrancy to the Village.  Sawgrass Village will be the hub and centerpiece of Ponte Vedra Beach once again due to the revitalization.

Sawgrass Village Design Features

The regal North Florida conceptual designs are refined and tailored coastal architecture that is “smart casual.”  The Ponte Vedra Inn and Club inspired the designs due to its ability to stand the test of time and utilize a coastal architecture with refined elegance.  ELM took its architectural cues from the historic club and will transform the Village into a modern interpretation.  The design utilizes coastal materials, colors, and landscape to create a new architectural theme that is uniquely Ponte Vedra Beach’s style.
